How do blind people even know or taught what is "seeing ?" Probably saying to us some humans can see through objects, we cant. We just accept it, but still seeing throuigh object is still a form of seeing. I am asking how is the phenomenon of sight even explained to them.

How did you know "exactly" how the scene was where the mic fell over if you yourself can not see to know how to relate it to experiences you have personally had? I smell a little bit of BS in this lol

i think the best way to describe color to a blind person is like saying how its the same with pitch and frequency. you can lower the pitch or raise the pitch of a sound but its still the same sound, the same way with color. an object might have a different color, but its still the same object and everything is the same except for that one aspect.

i wonder what a nightmare is like for someone who was born blind. how can they tell the difference between when they’re dreaming vs awake especially when they are lucid dreaming? if they were to astral project, would they be able to see then? (since they would no longer be limited to their physical bodies)

the fact that a blind man only burns himself once, gets majority of the batter onto the iron and successfully plates perfect waffles, and i, a seeing 24 year old woman, would have left this same kitchen with 3 burns, one bruise to the knee, batter on the floor, and 0 completed waffles, speaks volumes.

This video was very helpful and informative. My goldfish is permanently partially deaf and blind from a freak accident this past January. So he's been through a lot! He's doing much better now! But he still has his days. Tommy and Christine, you are a wonderful inspiration!

How does he have an idea of how the things are shaped to begin with? Like he’s never touched the entire Empire State Building or a whole giraffe irl. Have people described their appearances to him? Can he translate people’s descriptions into touch that well, onto a mini version of something he’s never felt for himself? And if he does rely on descriptions, does he have that good of a memory for all those descriptions?

You see by touching objects with your hands. Those with vision see the same way but our hands are our eyes. Light bounces off an object and hits our eyes and our eyes registers that.

Best conclusion is that he has some sight but is legally blind. He might be able to see shadows or shades or something. He can tell where things are but obviously can’t actually drive or anything.

Years ago I read about a person getting sight for the first time who said that his biggest disappointment was seeing what bread looked like. Weird.

I think explaining what causes color and what color actually is would be a better way to describe it, if he can understand the concept of light and dark then maybe he can understand different types of light and dark in a way?

Was just watching some mean comments videos and I wanted to say, Tommy (as a sighted person) that I wouldn't mind having your facial features; as a sighted man over 50, I know I'm rather doughy and you look better than me. Also, just love to watch these videos with their insight into your world; I always assumed blind people are sad because they can't see, but you seem cool with it. I hope it doesn't sound weird (I'm also a sci-fi fan) but watching your videos feels a lot like getting the perspective of some alien being who lives in a different world from most of us; totally not meant to offend, it's just weird and cool how comfortable you are with this life so few of us understand.
